

Dr Paul Felton, is a Senior Lecturer in Biomechanics, a human movement specialist, and an elite coach developer. He is one of cricket’s most prominent researchers and the owner of ‘The Cricket Biomechanist’.
Paul’s knowledge and skills have influenced students, athletes, coaches and organisations all over the world. He currently lectures at Nottingham Trent University where students have described his teaching as ‘personal’, ‘exceptional‘, and ‘engaging and practical‘.
Paul completed a Masters, a PhD & a Post-Doc in Sports Biomechanics exploring fast bowing technique funded by with the ECB at Loughborough University with Dr Mark King & Kevin Shine. This research was internationally recognised winning the International Society of Biomechanics in Sport’s ‘New Investigator’ Award.
His current research focuses on the influence body, environment, and task constraints have on human movement patterns in sport and their association with performance and injury. He has authored or co-authored world-leading peer-reviewed research in a number of sports including cricket, badminton, athletics and paracanoe. While also appearing regularly in written, radio, and video features, and been invited to speak at international research and coaching conferences around the world.
His company ‘The Cricket Biomechanist‘ provides technique coaching for coaches and applied human movement consultancy. He has redesigned and delivers human movement science on the ECB’s coach development programmes, and collaborated with organisations such as Cricket Ireland and the Western Australia Cricket Association.
